Class Notes for Feb. 3-7, 2014

We’re heading into a very busy time of year. We have our field trip to the Oregon Historical Society next Monday, Feb. 10. The Lewis Family Dance featuring the Lonesome Teacher Trio (Mr. Marchyok on fiddle, Mr. Jamesbarry on standup bass, and me on guitar, along with a few friends) will be on Friday, Feb. 21.  The following Friday, Feb. 28, the Talent Show will fill the cafeteria with the awesome talents of Lewis School. The school play is starting up and there will be an informational meeting at 3:00 on Feb. 10 in the cafeteria or Library.

We will finish up our unit on fractions and division on Thursday with a test. This week’s homework is tied directly to what will be on the test, so get it done as early in the week as possible. The spelling city.com homework is ready. Don’t forget the reading logs on Friday, too.

The class dug into their Native American research last week and will start putting the pieces together into a presentation this week. We will have (or had, depending on when you read this) a speaker come in on Tuesday to talk about Native Americans. I showed the class a few of my grandfather’s artifacts that he collected in the 1920s and ’30s in southern Oregon. Most of the tools came from the Columbia Plateau region.

There will be no homework club again this week. Things are still unsettled, although I have my fingers crossed.
