At last! A five-day week! What with snow, planning days, and holidays, it seems like we haven’t had one of those for the longest time. We will be putting these longer weeks to good use as we finish up our Native American studies and head into the days of Lewis and Clark, then the fur trappers and mountain men who followed them a few years later, and finally on to the pioneers who came across the Oregon Trail.
We will start up Homework Club again on Tuesday, March 4. If your child needs extra time or help on spelling or math homework, this is a good opportunity to get a little more teacher time. Sorry for not having it during February, but there was just too much going on in terms of meetings and other committments.
We did a fun math activity last week that had the class working on coordinate geometry using a character from Angry Birds. The assignment was very challenging and I was glad to see so many students rising to the task. I returned the Unit 3 math test last week. If you didn’t get it, ask your child about it. It’s probably floating around in a backpack.
Put this Friday’s Lewis Talent Show on your calendar! The Lonesome Teacher Trio will be performing once again this year. Also, the Lewis Family Dance has been rescheduled for Friday, March 7. We are really looking forward to playing for the talent show and the dance.
Continue working on last week’s math packet that will be due by Friday of this week. It can be turned in early if you want!
Spelling homework is on SpellingCity. This week’s words all have the prefixes un-, dis-, or in-. The general rule is the the base word doesn’t change, as in uncertain, discount, and incomplete.
