First of all, we still need chaperones for our field trip to the Oregon Historical Society this coming Monday, March 17. You can sign up at bit.ly/1h5HlcM if you are available to help. Thanks in advance!
We have started our Lewis and Clark unit that will feature a kit from the Historical Society that contains facsimiles of items that were taken along on the trip from 1804-1806. We will use our note-taking skills as we follow Lewis and Clark’s journey across the Rockies to the Pacific Ocean.
On Friday of last week the class started its four-day residency with Portland Taiko. Check out the blog for posts by students from that day and our Monday-Wednesday sessions. At the end of our time with Portland Taiko, our class will perform a recital with several other classes on Wednesday at 2:00 and all parents and friends are invited to attend. I think this event will be in the gym, but it may be in the music room. Please join us if you can.
Homework is the reading log, spelling worksheets or spelling city (or both!), and Math worksheets.
And last, but not least, Lewis (and Room 24 specifically) was represented well at the regional Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) on Saturday. Four of the five members of the team representing Lewis were from Room 24. Well done, Franny, Lily, Emmy, Simon, and Lawson! Special thanks to team coach Dana Katz.
