Art Night on Thursday, along with its accompanying musical performances by Mr. Jamesbarry’s after-school groups, is the highlight of the week. Each year, the halls come alive with student creations and Room 24 will put its best foot forward with some wonderful oil pastels done by the class under the guidance of Dana. We will also show our Native American spirit animals, and a Frida Kahlo-inspired portrait. There may be more, but we have to see how the space allows.
The class is continuing its way along the Oregon Trail. The wagon trains are moving and most have made it to Fort Kearney. Each group made a decision when they encountered a water well that used to be free, but people were charging for the water. There were consequences for each possible choice.
Walk and Bike Month is in full swing. Come to school by bike, scooter, on foot, or park and ride from a few blocks away. Every little bit helps!
Math testing is on Wednesday morning. I know this is the day after Game One of the second round playoffs, but please make sure your child is well rested for the OAKS (Oregon Assessment of Skills and Knowledge) test in the morning. Feel free to send a healthy snack for a mid-morning break. You can take a practice version of the test at https://oakspt.tds.airast.org/Student/Pages/LoginShell.aspx Just keep clicking until you get to the 4th-grade math test.
We are completely back to normal for homework, meaning there is a review packet for math, a spelling packet, and the reading log. I sent home a new batch of reading logs that will take us to the end of the year. If you didn’t get the packet, please let me know and I’ll send a new one.
This week’s words all have common suffixes. You can look at the words and do some optional activities on SpellingCity or use the list below. #goblazers!
