I am looking forward to our walking field trip down to Reed College’s Cooley Gallery this Friday morning. If you would like to come along on the trip, let me know. I would like to have 4-5 parents come along if possible. This is a great way to spend part of the day with your child and his/her friends. Gallery Outreach Coordinator Gregory MacNaughton always gets the kids to make connections between their daily lives and what they see in the art gallery. Please make sure your child wears comfortable walking shoes and appropriate clothes for the weather.

Our Native American unit is starting in earnest this week. Selections of groups will be made, research will begin, and presentations will be made. Last week we watched and took notes on a National Geographic video about what the Americas were like before Columbus arrived in 1492. More information about the home project will be coming home shortly.

Our field trip to OMSI was a total success. The kids were great, the exhibits were outstanding, and everybody came away with a better appreciation of science. Read what your child had to say about the trip on the blog.

I’m finding that students who study for the spelling test on Thursday night are doing well on the tests. It’s a good habit to get into.

Don’t forget the Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 6th. There will be a 5th-grade fundraising table or two to help support Science Camp tuition.
